KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday, while hearing a petition filed against unauthorized constructions in Dastagir Area, Karachi has ordered the Sindh Building Control Authority(SBCA) to take action against the officers in whose area any unauthorized constructions or a mega project was being constructed. The honorable bench comprising justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Mohammad Faisal Kamal Alam observed that the concerned officers remain oblivious to the unauthorized constructions until the case comes into the court.
The honorable court observed that why there was no action from the concerned department when the unauthorized construction started, The answer to this question was obvious that the concerned officers have special considerations for the wrongdoers. The honorable court also observed that the SBCA officers remain quiet until the matter comes into the knowledge of the court and they were directed to take action.
The court termed this phenomenon as beyond imagination that there is every chance that The Director, Deputy Director, and other officials are hand in glove with those involved in illegal constructions. The court ordered the DG SBCA to take legal action against the officials responsible for this sorry state of affairs. The Sindh Building Control Authority has earned a bad name in society because of illegal constructions.
As the honorable court observed the construction of highrise buildings without any approvals is something beyond imagination. This is not only a violation of the Supreme Court order but also a serious threat to the lives of people.
