CM Buzdar Approves PC-1 Of Elevated Expressway Project

Lahore: The Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar while chairing the meeting of the governing body of the Lahore Development Authority LDA Has Approved The PC-1 Of The Elevated Expressway Project. The 10.5-kilometer expressway from Gulberg to M2 would cost Rs 50 billion and will be completed in one year's time. The elevated road would pass through Canal Bank Road, Jaill Road, Feroze Pur Road, and Bund Road to reach Babu Sabu. The meeting held in the CM office was attended by the MPA Sadia Sohail, Vice Chairman LDA, Vice Chairman WASA, Secretary housing, Commissioner Lahore, and other members of the governing body. The Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to complete the financial mechanism at the earliest and speed up the work on the project to provide urgent relief to the people facing the congestion of traffic in the city.

The consultant briefed the Chief Minister about the Master Development Plans In Lahore Division and it was decided to constitute a supervisory committee for it. The CM directed that the Master Plan be expedited in accordance with the emerging demands and needs and the feasibility study after consultation with all stakeholders be presented to him. During the meeting, the construction of Naya Pakistan apartments and the contract between LDA and Bank Alfalah also came under discussion. It was also decided in the meeting that the employees Kota case and the auction of 325 Kanal land of finance and trade center be sent to the law department for legal input. The DG LDA also gave a briefing to the meeting regarding the development carried out by his department in the city.

Earlier this month the CM had held a meeting to review the projects like expressway and electric tramway and had directed the concerned quarters to immediately put up the case of elevated expressway so as to minimize the woes and worries of the daily commuters of the surrounding areas. He said that the road would help the masses to reach directly to the motorway without having to face the hassle at canal road and Multan road. During the meeting, the CM also directed the officials to speed up the work on the environment-friendly electric tramway project to further provide better sources of transportation to the citizens of the provincial metropolis. The CM on the occasion said that the incumbent government has started development projects in all the districts of the province to ensure an even and just distribution of available resources. It is to be mentioned here that the recent construction of Sheeranwala Flyover, Gulab Devi Flyover, many underpasses and bridges, and now elevated expressway and electric tramway would help a great deal to minimize the traffic issues in the city.
