CM Buzdar Conducts Balloting Of 3.5 Marla Low-Cost Housing Project

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar on Friday conducted balloting of the 3.5 Marla Low-Cost Housing Scheme under the PM Peri-Urban Low-Cost Housing Project. Under the scheme, the 3.5 marla houses would be provided to the masses at as low as Rs 17,50000 per unit at a monthly installment of merely Rs 6526 in a period of 20 years. The balloting was initially conducted for three tehsils by the CM in his office. Under the scheme, the state land is being given at Rs 10,000 per Marla to the low-income segment of the society. A revolving fund of Rs 3 billion has also been set up for the infrastructure work of the scheme. Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) Hasaan Khawar, Punjab chief secretary, SMBR, Principal Secretary to CM, NPHDA Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Haider, and others were also present on the spot.

Speaking on the occasion the CM congratulated the successful applicants in the three tehsils. The CM said that the project is a very important step of his government as under the scheme the poor and homeless would fulfill their dream of having a house of their own. The CM added that under the project the government is striving to build houses for the poorest and the needy in every tehsil and district of the province. The CM told that 133 locations have been identified throughout the province in this regard and the survey of 54 locations has been completed by the Naya Pakistan Housing Development Authority (NPHDA). The NPHDA has till now recommended construction of 10,000 housing units at 32 sites, he continued. PM Imran Khan also paying keen attention to uplifting the poor segment of the country he is monitoring these projects himself. He also visited the Low-Cost Housing Scheme In Islamabad a few days back.

The CM highlighted, “In line with the vision of PM Imran Khan, the provincial government is striving for introducing an affordable housing project in every tehsil and district as 133 locations have already been identified across the province,” The CM further said that the successful applicants would be eligible for housing mortgage. “A consortium of banks headed by the Bank of Punjab is providing mortgage finance facilities”. The project will be completed by NLC and FWO while Engineering Consultancy Services Punjab would work as a consultant to ensure the quality of services. He said, “The ECSP has been appointed as a project consultant to ensure construction quality. Construction of 245 houses at Raiwind, 324 houses in Sargodha, and 270 housing units in Chiniot are near completion,” The CM continued, “The government is committed to fulfilling all promises made to the people”, He added.
