Federal Minister Inaugurates Golra Morr Underpass Project

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar, accompanied by MNA Aamir Mahmood Kiani, inaugurated the construction work on Rs 71 million “Golra Morr underpass Remodelling and Improvement Project Islamabad”. Situated on the main GT Road, the underpass is reported to be completed in one year time by “Techno Time Constructions Private Limited”. The completion of the underpass will not only ease out the flow of traffic on the GT Road but also provide much-needed direct access to the residents of Sectors, I-14, I-15, and I-16.

The execution of the project is being funded by NHA from its maintenance accounts. The sources of NHA told that the traffic congestion at Golra Morr has become a routine exercise and about 125000 vehicles pass through it on daily basis. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Aamir Mahmod Kiani said the federal Minister Asad Umer is on the way to providing Signal Free Roads to the residents of the area and that the construction work in this regard is in progress on a number of projects like the Rawal Dam Flyover Project and Sector I-12 Development. He also said that the completion of the project will almost solve the traffic issue on the Golra Morr.

The current administration of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recently started to speed up the construction work on the sectors of I- series but the main link to the sectors from the main city will be provided by the Golra Morr underpass.I-15 sector that was meant exclusively for the low-income segment of the society will be among the major beneficiaries of the project. Over the past few years, there has been negligence on the part of CDA administration over the development of the sectors of the I series which were specially designed for the Low-income group but the completion of Golra Morr Underpass will further boost up the efforts of the incumbent Administration of the civic agency in bringing the neglected sectors in the mainstream.
