Gwadar Eastbay Expressway, one of the most vital CPEC project that is expected to revolutionize transportation alongside Gwadar Port is expected to be completed by the end of October, the senior official of Gwadar Development Authority told APP on Wednesday . The $ 168 million important mega connectivity and road infrastructure project is likely to be completed this month. The completion of this huge connectivity project is believed to play a major role in the development of the coastal city. The project is a part of a $1.1 billion development package for the city
The official of the Gwadar Development Authority claimed that the work on the mega-development project of the six-lane urban Motorway is in its final stages and the completion of the road would play an important role in the improvement of trade activities as it will connect Gwadar Port with free trade zone and Makran Coastal Highway. “The road will connect Gwadar Port with Gwadar Free Trade Zone and Makran Coastal Highway. Currently, more than 92 percent of construction work has been completed.”
Since the Expressway would connect Gwadar Port with other cities of the country so the economic benefits of the project would be of gigantic magnitude. The Eastbay Expressway would also connect with a 653 km long Makran National Highway from Karachi to Baluchistan, so the business activities will flourish throughout the country. The completion of the project would pave the way for the people across the country to utilize the great opportunity of growing the Gwadar Free Trade Zone in a true sense. The completion of the project would enable the Gwadar Port to utilize its potential to the fullest and become a Centre of business activities in the country.
The chairman of Gwadar Port Authority has already claimed that the trade activities through Gwadar Port would largely depend upon Eastbay Expressway, In an interview, he said, “The jewel of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is CPEC and Jewel of CPEC is East-Bay Express Way.” he further explained, “The expressway is an important part of CPEC road networks and it is the starting point.” He said that since GPA offers a 23 years full relief in tax and services that will attract the businessmen to shift their business across the country, about the benefits to the local population he said, “Locals will be the foremost beneficiary of the development.”
He further said, “Once the port is put into operation, locals will have business opportunities as clearing-and-forwarding agents; the demand for storage facilities will be locally run, and locals will have opportunities in hoteling and tourism industries.”
