A meeting of the Board of Revenue was held in the office of the Senior Member Board Of Revenue (SMBR), Baber Hayat Tarar to discuss the issue of grabbed state land and the pace of work on its retrieval. While chairing the meeting Mr. Tarar showed a strong commitment of his department towards the recovery of the State Land Illegally Occupied By The Land Mafia. Member Colonies, Director Land Record and Director PDMA, and Secretary Colonies attended the meeting. Senior Member Board of Revenue said that it was the responsibility of his department to retrieve the state land and that the department would show no leniency in this regard. He also claimed to recover the occupied state lands till the end of this year.
Earlier this month while addressing a media briefing Mr. Amin Aslam, The Federal Minister for Climate Change had claimed that millions of acres of state land had been occupied by Land Mafia and that the Government is all set to go for strict action against those involved inland grabbing. The government has already recovered around one lac and eighty-eight thousand acres of state land from illegal mafias in Punjab. The value of the recovered land is reported to be Rs 470 billion. Mr. Amin also revealed that about 7 lac acres of forest land have also been occupied by the land grabbers.
The present government ever since came at the helm of affairs has paid a lot of attention to secure public and private properties. The introduction of the Cadastral Mapping Project initiated by the Survey of Pakistan in all for federating units has shown every inch of state land and encroached areas. The reports about the occupied land from all provinces will be shared by Prime Minister Imran Khan with the provinces along with instructions of strict action against the Land Mafia.
