Balloting For E-12 Afectees Conducted by CDA

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) after a long-lasting battle of 32 years with the villagers of Sector E-12 Islamabad has finally conducted balloting of 162 out of total 1200 villagers were allotted alternative developed plots through e-balloting services provided by NADRA. The balloting conducted by the Special Assistant to PM on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan would ensure that the long-standing issue is on its way to being resolved whereby around 4000 people would be able to get the possession of plots in the area. The sector was launched by the civic agency in 1989 and around 4000 people purchased plots in the sector but after 32 years they were never to get possession of their plots and some of them have already passed away.

The civic agency on the other hand could not get possession of the land from the villagers to carry out development activities in the sector as the villagers were of the view that they would not vacate their land until the compensation is made by the CDA. The matter remained unresolved between the two parties unless after a span of 32 years the dispute was taken to the Islamabad hight Court. The Court formed a commission comprising of Three MNAs,s from Islamabad, Federal Minister Asad Umer, Special Assistant to PM on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan, and Chairman Standing Committee on Interior, Raja Khurram Nawaz. The commission after having several meetings with CDA and the villagers decided to settle the issue of compensation with around 1200 villagers. As per the recommendation of the commission, the CDA,s first balloting was conducted for the allotment of 162 different-sized plots to the villagers whose land and houses had been acquired by the CDA and were entitled to take alternative plots. On the other hand, developmental and constructional works for the uplift of the attached sectors like the Developmental Plan For Sector E-11 have already been prepared. Now after the Fate Decision of Sector E-12, the real development will also be started here.

Speaking on the occasion Ali Nawaz Awan said that the federal government deserves appreciation on the part of 1200 villagers and around 4000 plot owners on resolving the dispute. He said, “This is strange, people whose land had been acquired for the capital city and residential sectors had not been compensated”, He revealed that the next balloting would be held on January 30 and several others would be given their rights. He added,” It is the PTI government which is resolving this issue. I am thankful to the federal government, courts, the commission, and Mr. Umar for playing an active role in this regard.” Member state Naveed Ellahi and Director Land Afnan Alam were also present on the occasion. The civic agency has a plan to start development activities in E-12/1 and E-12/4 by the end of next month.
