For Smooth Drives, Can Plastic Roads Be Useful? Pakistan's First Eco-Friendly Plastic Road

The eco-friendly project of construction of a road out of waste plastic launched by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with Coca-Cola Pakistan and Afghanistan is going to be functional soon said the CDA Spokesman Rana Arshad. Earlier Form this decision for the Uplift Of Sector E-11 Islamabad, CDA has taken many serious steps, and now for the development of the capital, this important decision is not only an Eco-Friendly project, besides this, it is also a very good idea to recycle the wasted plastic. For this purpose 1 Km Road in F9 Park in Islamabad is expected to be a foundation for the re-carpeting of the national roads with plastic waste and the launch of similar mega projects throughout the country. The use of recycled plastic equivalent to around one million cups in one kilometer would also help a great deal in minimizing pollution in the city.

Earlier in September, an MOU in this regard was signed between CDA and Coca-Cola Pakistan Afghanistan. Speaking on the occasion, Fahad Ashraf, General manager of Coca-Cola Pakistan had promised to convert the concept into a reality. He had said, “This idea provides a breakthrough solution to bring back plastic waste into the productive economy. And we also want to focus on building a community around the idea and the innovation itself. For any concept to be applied and adopted, the people must first believe in it, and it needs to make social and commercial sense.”

He further continued that around 500 to 600 tonnes of waste is collected in Islamabad on a daily basis which includes around 150 to 200 tons of plastic waste and the idea of using this Plastic Waste On Re-Carpeting Of Roads would reduce the environmental pollution to a great extent. He further added, "The same technology can also be used for construction of rural roads as it will enhance their quality as well as longevity, he said, adding, with this environment-friendly project, the roads will be a model project in durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness".

The current government is very much conscious about the preservation of nature and the environment and has taken several steps in this regard under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Imran Khan. The Green Pakistan Program, Billion Tree Tsunami, Exploration of natural beauties and Integrated Tourism Zones In KPK, and now the use of waste plastic in the roads is the citation of the seriousness of the incumbent government in providing the nation with an eco-friendly environment.
