LAHORE –In a ceremony held in PP-160 Lahore in connection with reviewing the pace of ongoing development projects in the city, the provincial minister for local governments Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed has announced that the construction of a much needed and long-awaited Karim Block Flyover would begin soon. The minister said that the development work in the city is in full swing and the present government is on its way to fulfilling all its promises as per the vision of the Prime Minister and Punjab CM Usman Buzdar to provide the masses with basic amenities at the grassroots level, Like Addition Of 64 Buses to Metro Bus Service Lahore, and to solve other issues of the city on priority bases.
The Minister also discussed the steps taken by the current government to raise the level of the most depressed and dejected segments of society. For the provision of basic necessities, he said the government has started a program of targeted subsidy to help out the poorest of the poor. Insaaf Sehat Card is meant for providing basic health facilities to the poor and the needy at the doorstep. The present government has also facilitated the farmers by introducing Kisan Card and a special portal has also been set up to address the grievances of the farmers.
The 1.5 km long Kareem Block Flyover was initially approved at the cost of 2.35 billion, but work on development lingered on and in July this year the PC1 of the project had to be revised by the LDA and the new cost of the project is 2.55 billion owing to the unchecked increase in the prices of inputs. The construction of the Karim Block Flyover Lahore, The Minister said would benefit the masses as the long queues of the vehicles on the signal and a long-standing issue of traffic jams would come to an end.
The present government ever since came at the helm of affairs has paid special attention to providing the basic facilities to the less privileged segment of the society. The vision of the Prime Minister to create job opportunities for the low-income group and raise their level through promoting construction and housing in the country has started working and soon its benefits would be visible at the grassroots level.
