Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Tuesday has laid the foundation stone of the four-lane 128km long Lilla-Jhelum Road that will connect GT Road to the motorway. PM Khan is paying full attention to the development of the country and monitoring all in-process projects like Bhara Kahu Bypass Project, Rawalpindi Ring Road Construction Project, and many others himself. The Lilla-Jehum dual carriageway will be completed in two and a half years with an estimated cost of 15 billion. The road will connect Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Khushab, and Mir Pur Khas. The project will not only facilitate millions of commuters but will also play an important part in gearing up the economy by easing market access, promoting tourism, and creating job opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion The Chief Minister Usman Buzdar congratulated the residents of Jehlum PD Khan and MB Din on the government initiation of the project. He said that the project would change the fate of the people in the area. The CM said, “PM Imran Khan had laid the foundation stone of this project two years ago,” he continued, “At least 1.75,000 acres of land in the Jhelum and Khushab districts will be irrigated by the project along with the provision of clean drinking water to 26 villages,”
The CM also discussed the steps taken by his government for the progress of the province and said that 103 development projects in Jehlum are in progress at a cost of around Rs 11.5 billion. He said that soon the canal system of the Jalal Pur irrigation scheme would be operational. While discussing the vision of the premier he said that 13 PSDP road schemes were being started at the cost of about 82 billion. He added, “Similarly, four major roads of 506km length will be constructed with ADB assistance in Punjab with an amount of Rs130 billion,”
“Similarly, the construction of 107km long Jhang-Shorkot Road will also be commenced soon,” he added. “Alongside, the construction of 75km long road from Hasilpur to Bahawalnagar will be started soon. The construction of 150km long Depalpur-Pakpattan-Vehari Road is also a part of this program,”. He further continued, “Work will be started on Multan-Vehari Road and Sargodha-Faisalabad Road. Work is in progress at a brisk pace on Sheikhupura-Gujranwala Road. Third-party validation of every ADP project will be done and schemes will be completed in time. The development journey will be continued, and Punjab and other parts of the country will continue moving forward under the leadership of PM Imran Khan,”
