The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finally opened the bids For Parking Plaza Construction In Blue Area Islamabad to award a contract. The National Logistic Cell (NLC) has turned out to be the lowest bidder with Rs1274.548 million. The parking plaza at Blue Area is the first of the total seven Parking plazas that the civic agency has a plan to construct in near future. The plaza has a capacity to accommodate 1300 vehicles besides having Restaurants on its fifth floor. The first floor of the parking plaza will be having shops to generate revenue for the civic agency besides meeting its maintenance expenses. NLC recently also has awarded the contract of the 10th Avenue Project, and now it has offered the lowest bid for the above-said project.
According to CDA, the parking plaza will be constructed near savor foods at Jinnah Avenue. The construction of a parking plaza will not only be a source of revenue for the civic agency but also provide reasonable and secure parking to the visitors besides helping in minimizing the ever-increasing traffic jams in the area. The open-air restaurant will also be a source of entertainment for the masses. The parking plaza is expected to be completed in one year time period. The project is being executed by the Directorate of Works CDA, headed by Director Tahir Mahmood.
It is also pertinent to mention here that the CDA has been intending to build parking plazas especially in the busiest places of the city like Appara, Super, Jinnah Super, Pims hospital, Kucheri Chowk, and Karachi Company. The idea to ease out the public woes owing to the routine traffic jams was conceived for the first time in 2014 and the civic agency had also allocated funds in this regard. Now the CDA has changed the plan a little bit and the construction of six more parking plazas is expected to be initiated very soon. The civic agency is going to call tenders for parking plazas near Centaurs Mall, F-8 Markaz, Two in F-10 Markaz, Karachi Company, and I-8 Markaz, the CDA official told.
