Pakistan To Develop Chinese Assisted Semiconductors Zone

Islamabad: Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhary has said that during the PM visit to China, Pakistan has shared a proposed plan for the Development Of  Semiconductors Zone In Pakistan with Chinese assistance. The proposed plan the minister said would open new avenues of development in Pakistan by leading the country on the road of self-sufficiency in manufacturing the most modern gadgets. The prime minister during his visit discussed shifting of the semiconductors industry which would be beneficial for both the friendly countries. The Minister said, “I’m very happy to tell you that Chinese investors are very keen to join hands with Pakistan, and the technology zone will be converted into a semiconductor zone”.

It is to be noted that Fawad Chaudhary before assuming the portfolio of information and broadcasting remained the Minister for Science and Technology and he remained in touch with the Chinese regarding the promotion of the semiconductors industry in Pakistan. The minister said that there is a vast opportunity for mutual cooperation in Science and Technology. He said that the assembling of mobile phones has already been started in Pakistan but the incumbent government is trying to excel in the full-fledged manufacturing of cell phones in Pakistan. The minister hoped that the Chinese companies would invest in the technology zones so that both the countries usher into an era of much larger cooperation in the field of technology. He continued, "We will also like to start semiconductor designing in Pakistan. I am very happy to tell you that Chinese investors are very keen to join hands with Pakistan and the technology zone will be converted into a semiconductor zone”.

The PM held several meetings with the major technology companies in China to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries regarding software development, information technology, communication, and other relevant sectors. Foreign investment would not only strengthen the economy of Pakistan but also play its role to empower with skills the human resource of the country.
