LAHORE: Senior Member Board of Revenue Baber Hayat Tarer has revealed that the government has retrieved almost 1 lac and 88 acres of state land worth 473 billion during its ongoing Province-wise derive to Recovery Of State Land From Illegal Occupants In Punjab. The BOR, in its recent, derive, mainly through Cadastral Mapping Project, and through other resources, has recovered 6 acres of state land valuing Rs. 204.68 million in Sheikhupura and Sahiwal, around 15 acres of state land valuing Rs230 million in Khanewal, Multan, and Sahiwal. The Board of Revenue is taking the Help of concerned Deputy Commissioners in its derive to retrieve state land keeping in view the government,s target to get all the government land recovered by the 31st of December this year.
Similarly, the state land in all other districts is underway and Thousands Of Acres are Recovered From Different Districts Of Punjab From Illegal Occupants. However, there are some areas like Cholistan, DG Khan, and Rajan Pur where the occupied land has not been recovered as yet. There are also some cases where the state land was allotted to graduates on lease which has been given on contract by those graduates. The state land has also been given for the promotion of higher education.
The Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) last month claimed that The government would recover the occupied land at all costs and that they would go for all possible measures to get the land back. “The retrieved lands will be utilized for public welfare purposes, and an indiscriminate crackdown on land grabbers will continue as the government will go to every extent to eliminate land mafia from the province,” He had said. He also claimed that the land record had been digitized, overseas Pakistanis can get online Furd and transfer their land by sitting in the embassy. After the digitization and online facilities like Cadastral mapping, the chances of land grabbing would be minimized.
