Islamabad: The administrator of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) and the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Hamza Shafqat has issued a notification thereby imposing a ban on all sort of advertisements like banners, brushers, streamers, and board for the housing schemes which do not have a valid NOC issued by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). On one side CDA is very conscious about the development of the capital city, and many developmental projects like Sector I-11 Project, the recent 10th Avenue Development Project Contracted by NLC, Industrial Estate Islamabad Formation, and many others, but at the same time, they are also fully aware of these fraudulent groups and trying so hard to stop the path of these illegal developments to save innocent people from fraud. The Islamabad administration has already banned any sort of publication regarding a housing scheme that is operating in the jurisdiction of the capital city in a manner that does not follow the rules and regulations of the capital territory.
The order passed by the district magistrate on Nov. 21, 2021, stipulated that it was brought to the notice of the capital administration that some of the societies, limited companies, trusts, etc. are operating in the federal capital in violation of the law. These societies offer membership to innocent citizens either in excess of the available land or even without having any land. The order said, “Such societies, companies, trusts, groups, etc. allure the public at large by advertising the launching of housing schemes in newspapers, magazines, brochures, and booklets and even through local sale,”
The administration of the federal capital, therefore, banned all types of publication in regard sale of plots, invitations for membership fees without fulfilling all codel formalities in accordance with the law. The order further said, “This practice results in exploitation, fraud, forgery, disputes, offenses, law and order problems and massive litigation in courts,”. The capital administration in order to minimize these malpractices in the city has already introduced the Property Verification Cell (PVC) in collaboration with CDA so that the masses especially the overseas Pakistanis who usually fall victim to the frauds and forgeries, may verify the status of land through the portal before making any deal regarding the sale and purchase of the property.
