RDA Approved Tourism Express Master Plan

Rawalpindi, The district administration in a meeting held in Rawalpindi with the Chairman RDA in the chair has approved Rs 4.4 billion Tourism Highway Master Plan. The 123 kilometers long Tourism expressway starting from Kallar Syedan while passing through four tehsils of Rawalpindi will not only provide an alternative route to Murree Hills but also enable the tourists to explore some other hidden scenic beauties of Azad Kashmir.

The approved tourism express master plan, which is a signal-free road from Kalar Syedan and Azad Kashmir towards Murree Hills will have several tourist spots along with multi-story commercial buildings. The highest points along the route like Panj Pir will be used to enjoy the scenic beauty of the region.

Tourism Expressway will be upgraded accordingly to amuse the tourist to the fullest. According to the RDA officials, the foundation stone of the project will be laid soon.

Rawalpindi Development Authority has long been planning to transform the city into a full fledge tourist spot. The chairman RDA Tariq Murtaza has personally taken interest and chaired several meetings in this regard. Last month a meeting was presided over by the Chairman to merge three tehsils of Rawalpindi namely Murree, Kahuta and Kotly Sattian to form a mega tourism district. The tourism expressway will further prove to be a practical step to define the direction.

“The value of private land along the route will also increase as soon as the project starts”, said the chairman RDA. The construction of multi story buildings along the route will create job opportunities for the masses. The construction of an alternative route to the Murree Hills will also help a great deal to reduce traffic pressure on the Islamabad expressway and the commuters of the twin cities, as well as the people of Murre and surroundings, will have a sigh of relief.
