Pakistan in terms of seasons is rarely blessed as it has four seasons in a year namely summer, winter, autumn, and spring. Skardu is the coldest snowfall place in Pakistan. Temperature here always remains in minus and it is surrounded by some of the famous glaciers. In winter, it receives heavy snow fall and almost ever plateau and ground becomes level with snow. The white color of snow gives a sense of divine chastity. Skardu is located at the confluence of the Indus and the Shigar River, at an altitude of 8,200 feet.  It is a town and capital of Skardu District, in Gilgit–Baltistan. The adjacent valleys are scattered at distances of higher altitudes.  The town is surrounded by grey-brown colored mountains that in winter turn white due to snow-crust. The mountains hide the 8,000 metre peaks of the nearby Karakoram range.

 The inhabitants having been amid the gigantic mountains pisses a hear of lion and are very tough climatically.  There are three lakes in the vicinity of Skardu; Upper Kachura lake, Lower Kachura Lake, and Sadpara Lake. All these lakes in summer turn bluish housing the crystal clear water and in winter they are frozen. Skardu is equally popular with high altitude trekkers, who treks to Baltoro Glacier, K2 Base Camp and Concordia. Mountaineers and trekkers from all over the world comes in significant numbers to K2 Base Camp and Baltoro glacier. Recently, a team of Nepali mountaineers made a world record of ascending K2 in winter. This was the first time in history that a team ascended K2 in winter. They were showered with accolades for this daring adventure. The government of Gilgit Baltistan and Pakistan arranged congratulatory dinner parties in their service. Like Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral is also surrounded by the humongous mountain ranges, among them Tirichmir is the most famous one. Weather here in winter gets extremely cold due to the reception of heavy snow. The upper areas of Chitral in particular receive heavy snow that remains for almost three to four months.Among them Kalash is one such valley that is situated at a very high altitude. It is one of the major attractions in Chitral valley,Kalash– the home of the Kafir-Kalash or “Wearers of the Black Robes”, a primitive pagan tribe. Known as some of the best average snowfall in Pakistan. Located at the altitude of 5,476-7, 576 feet, these are a group of three small valleys: Brir, Bumburet and Rambur. Brir lies at the southernmost tip of Chitral at a distance of 34 km. Bumburet, the largest and the most picturesque valley of the Kafir Kalash, is 36 km from Chitral. And Rambur is 32 km from Chitral. All these valleys are connected by a jeep-able road.
