Karachi: DHA Karachi has declared that, during the next two years, Special Technology Zones will be established in the city's North and South Districts. Caretaker Information Technology (IT) Minister Dr Umar Saif disclosed this information on December 13 at an IT seminar.Minister Saif stressed during his seminar speech that bringing about revolutionary changes in the IT sector might be extremely important for establishing the country's economy. The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is making major moves in this direction. He emphasized how the SIFC forum has effectively gathered stakeholders and members of the military and civil institutions, promoting cooperation.

The minister revealed in a post on 'X,' a platform that was once known as Twitter, that the National Space Policy would enable private sector enterprises to offer reasonably priced internet services throughout the nation on December 13. It is anticipated that this endeavour would increase funding for the national space program. Minister Saif also declared that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency would replace the Federal Investigation Agency to prevent, look into, and prosecute cybercrimes in the nation.
The minister said in the same article that the IT ministry intends to create a Special Telecom Tribunal to accelerate telecom-related court matters, guaranteeing prompt settlement and enabling 5G spectrum availability.

Concurrently, Pakistan has been recognized as the third-largest supplier of digital labour services by the International Labor Organization (ILO). Notably, Pakistan is the second-largest supplier of digital labour according to the ILO, ranking it at No. 2.
