PESHAWAR: On Wednesday, Peshawar Mayor Haji Zubair Ali opened the city's first ladies' park in the Shalimar Garden area.
According to a statement made by the district administration, women and their families would be the only ones allowed entrance to the park.
The director of the Capital Metropolitan Government, Syed Waqas Ali Shah, and the principal of Municipal Inter Colleges Shahi Bagh, Nusrat Matoob, attended the mayor's inauguration with him.

Haji Zubair Ali, who spoke at the event, said that the park would offer women the best potential leisure opportunities.
He continued by saying that ladies with various illnesses, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, sugar, and depression, would be able to exercise and unwind in the park.
The mayor added that it was a significant day in Peshawar's history when a separate leisure facility for women was established. He emphasized that no swings will be put in the park in order to ensure safety.
