The chairman was briefed that the first phase of the development work from Mandi Mor to N-5 (GT Road) would be completed by this month while the deadline for the second phase from Mandi Mor to 9th Avenue would be completed by the end of December this year. He was further informed that the third and final phase of the development work would be completed by March 23, of next year. Chairman CDA directed the officials concerned that all the work should be completed well in time without compromising on quality and standard.
It is pertinent to mention here that the expansion of IJP Road and the construction of 10th avenue would help a great deal to improve the flow of traffic in the twin cities. It would also reduce the volume of load on 9th Avenue. Completing 10th avenue would also reduce the distance to the motorway and Islamabad International Airport for those using I J Principal Road. The expansion of the IJP road was conducted nearly 18 years back but its condition deteriorated soon after its completion mainly because of substandard work and the non-provision of separate lanes for the heavy flow of traffic on the road.
