Lahore: According to news reports on January 23, the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) has planned to open the Kalma Chowk underpass and adjoining roads to traffic by February.
Imran Amin, CEO of PCBDDA, announced the details while presiding over a meeting to examine the project's development. According to him, the authority is working nonstop to complete the assignment by the deadline of February next month. The CEO further stated that the underpass will be accessible to vehicles by February and that the authority will be able to complete both barrels of the Punjab Boulevard project in the Central Business District (CBD).

The CEO was informed during the meeting that the authority had finished excavating the rainwater storage tank in Saint Mary Park and had also finished cementing the underpass's roof.
Notably, the PCBDDA started the Kalma Chowk renovation project to provide access to the CBD, which is being built as the country's first smart downtown. Two underpasses and an overhead bridge will be built as part of the project to improve traffic flow and direct traffic away from the central business district and toward Kalma Chowk and Gulberg Main Boulevard.
