The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Noor-ul-Amin Mengal believes that the project to widen the Korang Bridge would be finished shortly. Mengal showed viewers a glance at the bridge in his most recent Twitter tweet to demonstrate the work accomplished thus far. The image recently shared by him depicts a bridge that is entirely covered in tarmac, missing a few finishing touches. Despite not providing a completion date, the chairman assured us that the bridge will probably open before monsoon season.

Earlier, the Project Director the 4-kilometer stretch of the Islamabad Expressway Expansion project from the Korang Nullah bridge to the PWD junction was to be completed by April or May 2023 but the project lingered on and it is expected that the highway users will soon feel some relief, especially between Korang Bridge (Gulberg Green) and the PWD intersection.
According to the project manager installation of the 33 girders for the 150-meter bridge on the piers, which are 30 meters high, was the most difficult component of the project. He highlighted that to increase strength, these piers are stacked 35 meters deep in the nullah bed.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier last year, the contractor of the project had stopped progressing on the project due to rising building material costs. As per the PC-I, the project was meant to be finished by December last year but the contractor missed the deadline. Later, he abandoned the project midway through, and the CDA hired the FWO to finish the job.
