In a letter to former Test fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz, who currently resides in London, Zahid Moneer, a member of the Middlesex County Board, has asked him to set up a meeting with PCB Chairman Najam Aziz Sethi to discuss the possibility of Middlesex's inclusion in the 8th season of the PSL, which is expected to begin in the first week of February 2023. According to the letter, if Middlesex's membership in Season VIII is not possible, the County is prepared to play friendly matches against the teams competing in the upcoming PSL season.

Sarfaraz Nawaz Said, "Yes, Zahid Moneer, a Middlesex Board member, approached me to discuss Middlesex County's wish to participate in the PSL VIII. The County CEO Andrew Cornish, according to Moneer would be willing to visit PCB Chairman Najam Sethi in Pakistan or England to discuss this ground-breaking notion in more detail.” If we were to make progress in this direction, it would be nothing less than a new trend and a revolution”, said Sarfraz, who lives close to Lord's, the Middlesex County administrative center. Mr. Nawaz further added,
"I have sent Najam Sethi the complete communication for further discussion," the sender said. I have asked the chairman of the management committee to take this novel concept into consideration for the benefit of the game and the country's reputation in cricket. Since Najam Sethi is a positive individual, I expect interesting development in this area”.According to Sarfraz Nawaz, allowing Middlesex to participate in the PSL would help boost the game of cricket to a great extent.
