CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Approves Rs 1672 Million for Road Maintenance

In the 20th meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority (KPHA) held with the Chief Minister in the chair, the government approves an amount of Rs 1672 million for maintenance of 3000 km roads and highways throughout the province. Out of a total amount, Rs 1200 million will be provided by the provincial government and the remaining 472 million by the KPHA from its own resources.  The Chief Minister Mahmood Khan while giving a nod to the maintenance plan also directed the high officials to submit a report about the previous year's development under the annual maintenance. The meeting was also attended by the Provincial Minister Ishtiaq Ahmed and Secretary Communication and Work Mr. Riaz Khan, The Provincial Secretary to CM, and the DG PKHA.

 

The maintenance work also includes the construction of toll plazas and some other operational works. The council also approved the provincialiation of different roads. The meeting also decided to take essential steps to strengthen the KPHA to enable it to approve the annual budget as an autonomous body. The creation of new posts as per the requirement of KPHA was also approved to ensure that the KPHA works efficiently and impressively. The meeting also took notice of overloading that causes serious harm to their average life of roads and agreed to carry out an effective mechanism for load management on the roads.

The participants of the meeting were also briefed about the ongoing development activities on roads and highways in the province. It was informed that 6 road projects worth six billion have also been reflected in the Annual Development Program (ADP). The Chief Minister advised the concerned officials to ensure physical progress in the development of roads and highways. The current government of KP under the dynamic leadership of the CM Mahmood Khan is working efficiently to fulfill their promises with the people with regard to the improvement of communication and transportation which reflects in the ongoing projects in the different cities of the province.
