FIR Registered Against Those Involved in Construction of Nasla Tower

Karachi: Following the orders of the apex court, the Ferozpur Police has lodged an FIR Against the Responsible Persons for the Illegal Construction Of Nasla Tower situated on the main Shara- e- Faisal (SMCHS). Initially Span over an area of 780 square yards, the plot was allotted to a builder Abdul Qadir by the society. The builder along with his partners with the connivance of the officials of the approving authorities encroached 341 yards of extra land from the service road and constructed a fifteen-story building and sold the shops and flats to the public.

Earlier the apex court had ordered commissioner Karachi to submit a comprehensive report about the encroachment and the ones involved in the construction of the illegal building. After the report submitted by the commissioner Karachi regarding the involvement of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), SMCHS, and deputy Director MPD, the two-member bench comprising the CJ Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Qazi Mohammad Amin ordered the anti-corruption department to register a case against the personnel involved in the approval of the building plan, and the honorable court also ordered Proper Compensations For Nasla Tower Affectees. And now the FIR was registered on Tuesday on behalf of the State and the complainant was Khushnud Javed, SHO Ferozabad Police Station. The SHO Ferozpur Police Station Registered the FIR against the chairman and the secretary SBCA, SMCHS officers and director and deputy director MPD and the builders.

A couple of months back, The Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered Commissioner Karachi to demolish the illegal building within a week through controlled blasting and arrange the compensation amount for the affectees from the owners of the building within two months. However, it was later decided not to go for blasting for the security of the adjacent areas and the building is being demolished manually. Responding to the demolition orders of the court the Chairman builders and Developers Association had lamented that the ones responsible for approval of the building plan should be punished first. The Sindh Government was of the view that illegal buildings should be legalized on the pattern of the Punjab government.

The information Minister Sindh Government, Saeed Ghani, Speaking over the issue said that those who approved the building are the prime culprits and they must be punished for the illegal act rather than the ones who bought flats out of their hard-earned money. He said, " If I say the builder is at fault, Sindh government is at fault, Saeed Ghani is at fault or even if Murad Ali Shah is at fault, punish them first," He added, "I don't think that the affectees are even 1% responsible," he continued. "When they bought flats or shops there, I am sure they must have checked all the SBCA approvals and maps before doing so."
