Islamabad Master Plan Commission to Approve Non-Motorized Transport

Islamabad: In a meeting of Islamabad Master Plan held on Friday under the Chairman Capital Development Authority ( CDA) Aamir Ali Ahmed on Friday. It was decided in the meeting that the Master Plan Commission would approve and promote Non-Motorized Transport In Islamabad. The meeting decided that Special Assistant to PM on CDA Affairs Ali Awan would be A permanent Member of the Master Plan Commission. The meeting endorsed that all the roads in the city would be made cycling-friendly and pedestrian-friendly. Completion of walkaways and marking of crossings along highways and particularly the removal of encroachment in the capital city would be carried out. The case of roadside parking and the mass transit system of the city also came under discussion in the meeting.

Bicycling is a mode of transport that never burns non-renewable fossil fuels. It also never produces air and noise pollution or other harmful emissions in the environment. A proper mechanism for the smart flow of traffic would be ensured by hiring the services of a consultant for smart traffic management. It was also decided in the meeting that the use of carpool and public transport in the capital city would be launched under a Smart Traffic Management System. The Speedy completion of work on the construction of six parking plazas in the capital city for smooth functioning of traffic also came under discussion. It was decided that after the completion of the parking plazas roadside parking would not be allowed and on violation of rules, fines would be imposed. It is pertinent to mention here that the civic agency striving hard these days, under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Aamir Ali Ahmed.

The Commission was also informed that to improve the quality of transportation Islamabad Metro Bus Service will be launched in the capital. The Metro Service would be plying from Peshawer Mor to the new Islamabad International Airport. Similarly, the civic agency is also planning to start Islamabad Bus Service on three different routes of the city and later the bus service would be plying on six different routes to minimize the worries and woes of the masses regarding transportation in the city. The overall traffic management in the city would be finalized after consultations with the experts. For the smooth functioning and management of the traffic, the city managers are carrying out a comprehensive strategy for the removal of encroachments on the roads of the capital city. The other day the CDA enforcement cell carried out an anti-encroachment derive in Chatta Bakhtawer and removed dozens of illegal shops and buildings. It was also decided in the meeting that the overall traffic management in the city would be finalized after consultations with the experts.
