RDA To Complete Ammar Chowk Project By The End Of December

Rawalpindi: The Chairman of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Mr. Tariq Mahmood Murtaza on Sunday revealed that Ammar Chowk Project is one of the four megaprojects that the authority is working on currently and that it would be completed by the end of December this year. The other three projects include Kutchehri Chowk, Defence Chowk, and Leh Expressway. The chairman said that ongoing speedy work is being carried out to minimize the problems faced by the commuters of the twin cities.

After the completion of Ammar Chowk, He added, the work on the two-level fly over on Kuchery Chowk would be started in January next year, and then the work on Defence Chowk Project would be started. About the Nullah Lei Expressway, he said that the work on its proposal was going on rapidly as In line with the directions of the Prime Minister. Under the vision of the Prime Minister, he continued, The Rawalpindi Development Authority has become a business-friendly regulator that has not only carried out business activities worth 71 billion in the past three years but also provided a significant boost to the construction industry as envisaged by the premier.

The RDD, The Chairman said, is working round the clock to facilitate the public despite a shortage of staff in the office, “the number of employees of RDA is 350 while at present we have only 171 employees", He continued, He also informed that almost all the record of RDA has been computerized, an IT section activated and the authority would be working paperless by the next month, he said"We have scanned the records of all the files from 1989 to date and saved them on the server. If a citizen comes with his old record, then our employees have no excuse to postpone his work,"

The RDA chairman further added that in order to facilitate the citizens, the RDA has also started one window operation whereby the time frame for each category of maps has been defined. The time for approval of a house map is one month, the time frame for approval of a commercial map is one and a half months and that of a housing society would be two months and five days.
