The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), on Thursday, yet again issued notices to at least a dozen illegal housing societies operating within its limits. Earlier, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Noor-ul-Amin Mengal had expressed deep concerns over ever-increasing illegal housing societies in RDA limits. The RDA has also advised the public to check the approval status of each plot and building from the MP&TE Directorate RDA. Moreover, the RDA website could also be used in this regard.
As per details the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate RDA under the provision of the act and Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010 has issued notices under the instruction of the DG RDA. The MP&TE Directorate is also taking action against the advertisements/marketing of illegal housing societies. These societies are reported to efficiently use social media for the propagation of their illegal business.
The illegal housing schemes have been directed to submit their mortgage deed, deed of surrender, No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Environment Protection Department, and other requirements very soon, otherwise the layout plans of these housing schemes would be withdrawn/canceled. According to RDA, there are as many as 300 illegal housing societies operating within the limit of the RDA. There has been a full-fledged illegal campaign through social media and other marketing techniques to attract innocent people to buy plots in society. However, the RDA also clarified that there are also 69 housing societies that are operating under the guidelines of the RDA.
