Lahore: The Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Chaudhary Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the site of the Shahkam Chowk Flyover Project and directed the official concerned to speed up the execution of the project so that the project could be completed in the stipulated time. He directed the authorities to increase the workforce to accomplish the task urgently so that the woes and worries of the masses should be minimized at the earliest. He also obliged of the people for an inordinate delay in the execution of the project. The Rs 4.233 billion projects will end the traffic issues at Shahkam Chowk and save precious time. The project was started last year in March and was to be completed within a year's time but due to some technical issues, the work could not be completed in the stipulated time.

The DG LDA also informed that under the same project the defense road and Kanal Road are also being repaired and rehabilitated. He said, “Under this project, the 5.6km long Defense Road from Labor Colony to Shahkam Chowk is also being rehabilitated and the Canal Road is being repaired.” The project could not be completed by the March deadline because LESCO could not observe a Power shutdown, especially during the holy month of Ramzan to enable the workers and engineers to complete their task in the area of high tension wires of 66 kV, 132 kV, and 220 kV. These high tension wires provide power supply to most of the regions of Punjab.
It is relevant to mention here that the Lahore Development Authority has completed some of the major road and bridge projects in the recent past for easing the flow of traffic in the city. Sheeranwala Project, Gulab Devi Project, Ravi Urban Development, and some of the other road projects started in the recent past will significantly help in ensuring the smooth flow of traffic in the city.
