Rawalpindi: For the last few days there has been an acute problem of water shortage and electricity load-shedding in Bahria Town Rawalpindi that prompted the residents of Phase 7 and phase 8 to protest against the management of Bahria Town. More than 250 people gathered around the statue of liberty monument of the housing society and made a peaceful protest. The people were carrying placards demanding of the administration of the Bahria Town bring an end to the power outage in the society.

Last week the Bahria Town administration announced three hours of load-shedding claiming that there is a load shedding of at least six hours carried out across the country but Bahria would conduct a three-hour load-shedding. The residents of the area told that a three-hour load-shedding has also caused issues of water shortage. The protesters claimed that in the past Bahria Town used to be the best housing society but things have started changing. The management of Bahria Town was urged to make all possible efforts to resolve the issues of the residents.

The residents of Bahria Town Phase 7 and Phase 8 complained that they settled in Bahria Town for a luxury lifestyle but the administration is not keeping its promises. Sajid Mahmood, A resident of Phase 8, said, “We came from abroad and settled in Bahria Town but the facilities promised by the society have been missing these days,”. The residents of Bahria Town also took to social media and urged the real estate tycoon Malik Riaz, the owner of the society, to personally intervene in the issue to safeguard the prestige of the society.
