Lahore: Four new districts have been notified by the Board of Revenue namely Wazirabad, Murree, Kot Addu, and Talagang. The CM Punjab has already approved five new districts in Punjab. But the BOR will notify the fifth district later as the fifth one Tausa Sharif_ will be notified after the realignment of the Fort Munro tehsil that touches D.G. Khan. The delayed notification of the fifth district appeared when some of the politicians belonging to the area approached the Punjab Government demanding that the Munro tehsil should be annexed with Dera Ghazi Khan district, which is just 30km away, whereas the same tehsil is more than 100km from Taunsa Sharif.

It has been learned that the BOR would soon move a summary to the Punjab Government regarding the attachment of Fort Munro with D.G. Khan, instead of Taunsa Sharif. After the notification, the Punjab Government will have to set up complete district administration with all provincial departments and each district will also get a separate budget for their smooth functioning. In the new local set-up, the new districts would also have district councils which would require amendments in the new Punjab Local Government Act.
It is relevant to mention here that the incumbent Punjab government under the dynamic vision of the CM Punjab Chaudhary Pervez Elahi is working round the clock to provide facilities and amenities to the people of the province at their doorstep. The approval of new districts was given by the CM at a meeting on Thursday on the instruction of the PTI Chairman Imran Khan. In the meeting, the senior member BOR had given a detailed briefing on the new districts.
