A couple of years back a similar property scam surfaced and over 100 backdated allotments in sectors I-11 and I-12 were pointed out. The security directorate indicated a detailed investigation into the matter but so far neither any action has been taken nor the allotment canceled as yet. In 2017 the civic agency had decided not to allot any plots on a pick-and-choose basis rather all such allotments would be made through balloting. In this regard, a list of as many as 800 plots was prepared for balloting out of which 250 plots were allotted through balloting, and the remaining 550 plots were kept in record for the future.

It is relevant to mention here that a large number of plots in sector I-12 that were shown vacant in 2017 were marked as allotted last year which are reported to be allotted fraudulently. Last month the CDA managers formed a committee to probe the suspicious allotment of 7 plots in D-13 with the fake signature of the concerned officer. It was informed by a CDA official that some of the corrupt officials of the civic agency used to mint money in pick and choose based allotments but after the 2017 decision of balloting, these corrupt elements have started back-dated allotments with the support of some of the property dealers in the capital city.
