Lahore: CM Punjab Hamza Shahbaz has issued special directives to the district administration throughout the Punjab Province to facilitate the tourists in the best possible manner. He also ordered the district administrations of the province to ensure that no overcharging takes place at any public place during the ongoing eid celebrations. He also directed that special traffic plans should also be carried out for smooth flow of traffic in tourist spots and historical places, especially in Murree.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) has chalked out a comprehensive plan to ensure a sound flow of traffic in the famous hill station of Murree. The Chief Traffic officer Rawalpindi Naved Irshad has said that special measures are being taken to facilitate tourists in Murree. He said that there is a capacity of only 3500 vehicles to be parked at Murree and no more than 8000 vehicles would be allowed to enter the city. He said, “Following the instructions of the district government, the CTP will not allow entry of more than 8000 vehicles into Murree.” The CTO added that there are around 300 traffic personnel deployed in Murree to ease the flow of traffic during the eid festival. There will be traffic wardens at all entry points of Murree.

The CTO further added that the Mall road is closed for all vehicular traffic and no heavy traffic including buses and trucks is being allowed to cross Lower Topa to ensure easy flow of traffic. He also added that the licenses of drivers are being checked at various entry points and no driving without a license is allowed in the city. Similarly, bikes without helmets are not allowed to enter the city. The education wing of Trafic Police is also distributing handouts to the tourists to guide them properly. It is relevant to mention here that last year during the heavy snowfall in Murree Hills the mismanagement on the part of the district administration had resulted in the loss of at least 22 precious lives in the surroundings of Murree.
