Islamabad: According to news in the top daily on October 16, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has released information regarding the land reclaimed from unauthorized tenants.

According to the information, over the last week, the authority has successfully reclaimed 750 kanals of its land in Sectors I-12/1, I-12/2, and I-12/3. Anwar ul Haq, the chairman of the CDA, recently ordered a stern crackdown on encroachments throughout the federal capital.An officer (whose identity was withheld) said that the CDA Enforcement Directorate, along with other government agencies, had launched a coordinated operation to combat an unofficial Afghan community near NUST, Sector I-12. Heavy equipment was used in this project, which led to the destruction of several temporary buildings and cattle enclosures.

The news source also indicated that the 750 kanals of recovered land would be used for a variety of future development projects. It's noteworthy that the anti-encroachment operation covered a wide area of Islamabad, including Simly Dam Road, Karnal Sher Khan Avenue, Mandi Mor, Margalla Town Phase-2, and Murree Road. Public walkways on both sides of these thoroughfares have impediments that need to be removed as part of the work.
