This year, a package increase of Rs. 350,000 announced by the Religious Affairs Minister resulted in a considerable increase in the cost of the annual Hajj visit. Due to this, Pakistan's official Hajj expenses have increased to almost Rs. 1.175 million, a significant increase over the cost of Rs. 826,000 last year. The increase in costs can be linked to rising food and hotel costs, as well as general inflation.
