PM Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the Gawader East Bay Project as well as performed the groundbreaking of seven other development projects in Gwadar City. The East-Bay Expressway, a project of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a six-lane expressway that would connect Gwadar City with Makran Coastal Highway. This connection will also give Gwadar easy access to Karachi city. The PM expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of work in the city and directed the concerned authorities to speed up the pace of the development projects in Gwadar. The completion of the project is expected to boost economic activities in various parts of the country.

As per details, the other projects worth billions of rupees include Gwadar Seawater Desalination Plant, Jingtal Gwadar Private Limited, Hangmei Lubricant Plant, Hangeng Agricultural Industrial Park, Gwadar Expo Centre, and Gwadar Fertilizer Plant. The completion of the road would play an important role in the improvement of trade activities as it will connect Gwadar Port with the free trade zone and Makran Coastal Highway. The road has connect Gwadar Port with Gwadar Free Trade Zone and Makran Coastal Highway. The Eastbay Expressway Project is a part of a $1.1 billion development package for the city. Last year the Chairman Gwadar Port Authority said, “The jewel of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is CPEC, and Jewel of CPEC is East-Bay Express Way.”
