Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway to Get Guarantee Amounting to Rs9.5bn

Islamabad: According to news reported on June 5, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved the construction of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway while offering a PKR 9,500 million government guarantee. The Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway project has received government backing and will be carried out using a build-operate-transfer model, it was revealed at an ECC meeting. A thorough summary was provided by the Ministry of Communications, which highlighted the importance of this development.

According to the specifics, the National Highway Authority (NHA) and TECMC would actively participate in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model implementation of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project. According to the PPP agreement, the NHA is required to give the concessionaire a Government of Pakistan (GOP) guarantee worth PKR 9,500.

This crucial guarantee serves as a commitment to ensuring the project’s successful financial close. To facilitate the concessionaire’s timely achievement of financial close, the Ministry of Communications has requested the ECC’s approval for the issuance of a government guarantee to be issued by the Ministry of Finance. This step aims to provide reassurance and confidence to the commercial lenders involved in the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project.
