In an effort to bring the city into compliance with the master plan, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for building control, as reported on September 8.

This notification has already been made public. The Town Planning Director will no longer be in charge of the city's efforts against illegal structures as a result of the recent changes. The Assistant Director and Deputy Director will be responsible for preventing and combating unauthorized construction in the city.
The Town Planning Assistant Director's job description has been outlined in the building control SOPs. This officer will be in charge of doing daily inspections of the city's major thoroughfares and generating a list of authorized and prohibited properties.
