Lahore: According to news reports on December 14, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to self-finance all major municipal development projects. Following a reduction in development funds from the Punjab Finance Department for the construction of the Karim Block Underpass due to budgetary restrictions, the authority made the decision to fund the projects.

The LDA has now set aside PKR 10 billion for the project to relieve traffic congestion at a crucial intersection. The construction of an underpass for traffic traveling from Maulana Shaukat Ali Road to Jedda Chowk is part of the project.
National Engineering Services Pakistan has previously received a feasibility study contract from the LDA (NESPAK). It is vital to note that the Punjab government initially approved the building of the Karim Block Underpass in 2018 with a budget of PKR 14 billion. However, the Punjab Finance Department cut the development fund to PKR 10 billion due to financial restrictions.
