Parking Plazas in Islamabad Construction Work Started by CDA

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to start the
construction work on the major shopping centers of the capital city. The CDA
Chairman said on Wednesday that the construction of at least five parking
plazas would be started during the current fiscal year. The CDA chairman
during his first appearance before the media informed that the engineering
wing of the CDA has been instructed to start construction of the said parking
plazas before the end of June 2023. He said that work on the parking plaza
near Savor Food has already been started. The civic body is trying to construct
at least seven parking plazas in various busy areas of the federal capital like
Blue Area, F 10 Markaz, and F-8 Markaz with a capacity of parking at least 3500
vehicles.

Last year, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) opened the bids to award
the contract for the construction of a parking plaza in the Blue Area. The
National Logistic Cell (NLC) is executing the project worth Rs1274.548 million.
The parking plaza at Blue Area is the first of a total of seven Parking plazas that
the civic agency has a plan to construct in the near future. The plaza has a
capacity to accommodate 1300 vehicles besides having Restaurants on its fifth
floor. According to CDA, the parking plaza will be constructed near savor foods
at Jinnah Avenue. Construction of a parking plaza will not only be a source of
revenue for the civic agency but also provide reasonable and secure parking to
the visitors besides helping in minimizing the ever-increasing traffic jams in the
area.

It is relevant to mention here that the CDA has long  been intending to build
parking plazas in the main hubs of business activities like Appara, Super, Jinnah
Super, PIMS hospital, Kuchery Chowk, and Karachi Company. The idea was
conceived to ease routine traffic jams. Now the CDA chairman has announced
to start the construction of six more parking plazas soon. The civic agency will
construct these parking plazas near Centaurs Mall, F-8 Markaz, Two in F-10
Markaz, Karachi Company, and I-8 Markaz.
