Kucherry Chowk Project RDA Issued Deadline for Bids Submission

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued a letter to four reputed firms asking them to participate in the direct contract of the Kucherry Chowk Remodelling Project. The RDA has given to these firms a deadline of September 21, 2o22 to submit bids to carry out the construction of the project. These firms include National Logistics Cell (NLC), National Construction Limited, Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and Railcop Private Limited. The RDA Chief Engineer has asked the firms to get the tender documents from his office and submit them by the 21st of the ongoing month.

Earlier the RDA authorities had decided to change the previous design of the project and a new design has been approved by the provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) in order to minimize public worries at the main junction of the city. Under the newly approved design, a flyover would also be constructed to cater to the traffic from Rawat Side. The cost of the new design has increased to 6.422 billion compared to the previous cost of 4.87bn with a daily transportation capacity of 100,000 vehicles. The revised remodeling project will be completed in two years and will provide an easy way to 131,500 vehicles per day.

The newly approved PC-1 contains the addition of a flyover of Y-shaped to cater to the traffic from Rawat to Saddar, Saddar to Rawat, and Marrir Chowk to Rawat. In the previous design, there was a level-2 underpass for Saddar to Rawat and Saddar to the airport with a total of six lanes. The RDA has already completed the Ammar Chowk Project and now there are two major projects namely Kucherry Chowk Project and Defence Chowk Project. The Kucherry chowk project is vital as it is among the busiest squares of the city.
