Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has ordered the contractors to start the long-awaited development work in sector I-12 tomorrow, June 1 2022. The contractors are reported to have mobilized their machinery and started making necessary arrangements in this regard. In the ongoing phase of the civil work in the sub-sectors I-12/1 and I-12/2 at a cost of Rs 542.78 million include sewerage, drainage, and construction of streets. The project would be completed in 15 months. The CDA officials told that soon the development work in the the other two sub-sectors would be started. The I-12 sector has been one of the most neglected sectors of the civic agency where the development work has lingred around for the last thirty years.

Earlier last year a deligation of the villagers met the Chairman CDA Aamir Ali Ahmed and complained about the sheer negligence on the part of the CDA because of which the sector remained shelved for the last three decades. They also complained about the dumping site in the sector. The Chairman regretted the lethargic attitude of the concerned officials and assured the allottees that soon the new tender for the development work of the sector would be issued and the development work would restart at the earliest. The CDA had a plan to start the development work in the sector at the start of 2022 as per the commitment of the chairman with the allottees but the work faces delay due to some technical issues, but now the CDA is all set to start the proceedings in this connection from tomorrow.

The Chairman CDA listened to the allottees in detail and assured them of every possible support to reduce their woes. While discussing the issue of the dumping of garbage in this sector, which is reported to have been the main cause of the delayed development work in the sector, the chairman CDA ordered the concerned official to remove the dump from the sector as early as possible.

An official of CDA on Monday said that the contractor has started mobilising the required machinery for the start of development works in sub-sectors I-12/2 and I-12/3. The civil development works which include drainage and sewerage network and construction of streets would cost Rs542.788 million and would be completed in 15 months. The official said that development work in sub-sectors I-12/1 and I-12/4 would also start shortly and the same would be carried out on government to government basis.
Islamabad: A delegation of the I-12 Action Committee led by its president Aftab Ujjain met the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Aamir Ali Ahmed, in his office and complained about the sheer negligence of the civic agency in the development of sector I-12 over the past 30 years. They also complained about the dumping site in the sector. The Chairman regretted the extremely lethargic attitude of the concerned quarters and in presence of the officials concerned assured the allottees that soon the new tender about the uplift work of the sector will be issued and the development work would restart in January 2022.
The Chairman CDA listened to the allottees in detail and assured them of every possible support to reduce their woes. He also assured the delegation that just like the E-11 Sector Development Plan initiation, a meeting with the director of sector development will be held on a monthly basis to speed up the development work in the stalled sectors.
Capital Development Authority has recently invited bids from registered in Pakistan Engineering Council in category C-3 and above through daily newspapers. The first phase of the Sector I-12 Islamabad Development Plan includes the construction of the Service Road, the Construction of box culverts, and the drainage system in the sector. The I-12 sector has been one of the most ignored sectors of the civic agency in the past two to three decades. Now that the civic agency has decided to move the dumping site from I-12 to I-16 on a temporary basis before the site is permanently moved to Mandra in the outskirts of the capital city. The removal of the garbage dumping from I-12 will not only ensure the restart of development of the sector but also save the residents of the capital city from environmental pollution.
