Lahore: During a special session, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave her provisional consent to distribute one-kilowatt (1KV) solar systems to fifty thousand families in the province. This important choice represents a determined attempt to alleviate energy poverty and lessen the expensive burden of using traditional electricity. The effort, which falls under the Roshan Punjab programme, intends to help socioeconomically disadvantaged groups in society have access to affordable and sustainable energy.

Session discussions focused on the technical details of the suggested solar systems, with particular attention to the inclusion of necessary parts including solar panels, batteries, inverters, and necessary wiring. Every 1KV solar setup is carefully designed to supply electricity for basic home items, such as lights, fans, and small motors.

The upcoming pilot project, which is scheduled to begin shortly, will install 1KV solar systems in various homes as a means of testing their effectiveness and suitability in supplying family energy needs. Protected consumers whose power consumption does not exceed 100 units are eligible to participate.
The need to procure high-quality solar panels, inverters, batteries, and auxiliary components for enhancing the longevity and operational efficiency of solar systems was emphasized by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. She also provided a strategic vision for the program's future phases, which will involve progressively broadening its reach to include a wider range of domestic consumers.
